Who should get the Flu Vaccine?

We recommend the flu vaccine for:

  • People in at-risk groups
    (Please read the HSE leaflet on flu vaccine for people in at-risk groups)
  • Children
    (Please read HSE leaflet on flu vaccine for children)
  • Pregnant women
    (Please read HSE leaflet on flu vaccine for pregnant women)
  • People (adults and children) with long-term medical conditions such as diabetes, chronic heart conditions, liver conditions, kidney conditions and chronic lung disease including COPD, or neurological diseases
  • People with cancer
  • People whose immune system is impaired due to disease or treatment
  • People who are obese who have a body mass index (BMI) of over 40
  • People with Down Syndrome
  • Residents of nursing homes and other long-stay institutions
  • Healthcare workers
  • Carers
  • People who live in the same house as someone who is at risk of flu because of a medical condition
  • People with regular close contact with poultry, water fowl or pigs.

Book your Appointment to Receive the Flu Vaccine

To make an appointment to receive the flu vaccine for yourself or your child, please complete the following form:

    The Nasal Spray Flu Vaccine for Children aged 2-17 is FREE.

    This service is FREE but is reserved for patients aged 18-64 years old that meet at least ONE of the following criteria: hold a medical card or GP Visit Card; is a healthcare worker or homecare worker with direct patient contact; is a patient with specified underlying health conditions. If you do not meet the criteria, you must book a private flu vaccination.

    This vaccination service is for those who do not meet the criteria for receiving a free HSE vaccine. The vaccine costs €25 and is payable at your appointment.

    This vaccine is provided FREE for adults aged 65 years and older.

    I consent to Salthill Pharmacy contacting me regarding this appointment and further flu-related information ie vaccine updates, boosters etc. I also consent to Salthill Pharmacy recording my name & phone number in relation to COVID 19 Contact Tracing protocols.*

    I have read and understood the HSE Who is at Risk? leaflet for flu vaccine 2021 and I understand that I will have the opportunity to speak to the pharmacist and to ask questions and raise any concerns prior to my receiving the vaccine. I agree that the details I have supplied have been recorded and those records will be kept by Salthill Pharmacy and shared with the HSE for the purposes of public health as required by legislation.*
